POWERING COBY MPC7085 ON WHEN NOT PLUGGED IN.

It seems that COBY MPC7085 won't hold a charge and won't power on. I can only use it if is plugged in the wall/ac adapter. I even tried charging it via my laptop, and it lights up like it's charging, but when I unplug it, it won't power on (i.e. holding the power button for several seconds when not plugged in). It seems to work fine when plugged in into the ac/adaptor. Also the battery bar shows full when plugged into the computer or into a a/c adapter....
