Car won't start.

I don't know if a low battery in the fob is causing it to send a crazy signal or something, but my Saturn Vue sometimes won't start. I follow all the instructions in the manual each time, but it never seems to fix it the same way twice. sometimes I can hit on a sequence of turning on the ignition and pressing the valet or toggle switch but i can't find something that works consistantly. sometimes it has taken 45 minutes to hit upon something that works. Do you think the unit need servicing or might it just be a dying battery in the fob. Any help leading me in a direction as to how to over ride the kill switch will be appreciated....
