Leica C!

Hi - I know it's not really a Leica, but I have a problem with my C1. When I load a film, 0 blinks as if film loaded incorrectly, but loading is correct. Film symbol shows, but no battery symbol at al, although I get whirring sounds and other symbols are strong. Any ideas? Thanks for any help Richard...
