CANT PLAY ORIGINAL NTSC DVD MOVIES

Hello everyone, im having this problem trying to play original DVD movies on my Pioneer XV-DV8 player. its very strange because if i make a copy of the movie the player reads it fine, enyone has any idea what the problem is. thanks in advance...
